Centivo’s Virtual Primary Care practice earns NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition

LAS VEGAS, November 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Centivo, a new breed of healthcare plan for self-funded employers anchored by leading value-based care providers, announced today at HLTH that its Virtual family doctor practice has received Patient-centric medical home (PCMH) Recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). More than 10,000 practices (with more than 50,000 physicians) are recognized by the NCQA and Centivo’s performance tag one the first virtual family doctor practices to receive PCMH recognition. “NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition raises the bar in defining quality care by emphasizing access, health information technology and coordinated, patient-centered care,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “The recognition demonstrates that Centivo Virtual Primary Care has the tools, systems and resources to provide its patients with the right care at the right time.”

The NCQA’s PCMH Recognition Program is the most widely used PCMH assessment program in the country. It was designed to assess whether clinical practices are functioning as medical institutions and to recognize them for their efforts. The NCQA PCMH standards emphasize the application of systematic, patient-centered, coordinated care that supports access, communication, and patient involvement.

“Recognition as one of the first virtual patient-centric medical homes is a proud and exciting moment for all of us here at Centivo and our virtual primary care team,” said Dr. Wayne Jenkins, Chief Medical Officer at Centivo. “From the beginning, we have built our virtual capabilities to match the patient experience of best-in-class modern primary care. PCMH recognition is a true honor and validation of our approach and success.”

Unlike many virtual care offerings that are offered alongside traditional healthcare plans, Centivo’s virtual primary care practice is fully integrated with Centivo’s core healthcare plan. This integration is important as it allows GPs to coordinate all care, including specialty care, within the network. Additionally, Centivo’s signature partnership plan offers a free basic service for all visits, virtual or in person.

“The key to our success and PCMH recognition is our comprehensive range of virtual primary care services and capabilities that are very convenient and timely to access,” said Dr. Jan SailerMedical Director of Centivo Virtual Care. “It has been so enriching to connect with our patients, get to know them and show them that virtual care can be truly excellent and comprehensive care.”

“We have experienced first-hand the quality, comfort and valuable guidance of Dr. Sailer and her team and we’ve had great feedback from fellow members,” he said Andrew Starling at Starling Automotive, a car dealership with locations in the Southeast. “Congratulations to the Centivo Virtual Primary Care team on this PCMH award.”
